Birmingham
is full of unsung heroes and interesting folk, each
with their own stories that help shape the history to
this great city. Armed with little more than a
portable recorder and his scooter, Martin Mullaney
travels the suburbs inteviewing its residents.
Andy Wickett Interview This episode sees Martin chat
with local music supremo Andy Wickett.
Noted for writing one of Duran Duran's
most famous songs 'Girls on Film' and
then selling it to their management for a measly £600.
He spills the beans on working with the band just before
their big break and how he trained Simon Le
Bon to sing the songs. Don't miss it!!!
Bob Lamb Interview
Bob Lamb is a Birmingham
music icon. Instrumental to the careers of UB40
and Duran Duran, he started a recording
studio in his bed-sit in Moseley, now
a newly refurbished property.
Affectionately known as the 'Home of the Hits',
68 Cambridge Road is where the recordings of UB40
and early Duran Duran were made.
In this fascinating insight, Bob talks
to Mullaney about the early days of his
recording and music producing career.
